Figure 1 is a crowdsourced medical image library and a platform allowing for photo sharing by healthcare professionals. They can upload and tag images, use each other's images for information and education, rate images for accuracy or clinical representativeness, and discuss cases. It is safe and deeply conscious of patient privacy, but simple and easy to use.
Figure 1 launched in the app store this past summer, but already has tens of thousands of active users, who are uploading hundreds of images, and engaging in conversation about them.
It has been featured by CBS, The Atlantic, Mashable, Gizmodo, Smithsonian Magazine, Medgadget, Canada's National Post and Globe and Mail, and many others.
